WinPatch is very recognized in the software industry and has been given a number of notable awards. WinPatch has been around for quite some time. I developed WinPatch in 1995 and have been enhancing it ever since. It is one of the most reliable and inexpensive software patching utilities on the market. As a matter of fact the reason I originally developed WinPatch was because I could not afford to purchase more expensive patching utilities. While WinPatch does not have all the "bells and whistles" the more expensive tools do, it is a fast, reliable, and costs much less. WinPatch 1.3 compares an old file system in one Windows folder to a new file system in another Windows folder and creates a patch file that can be distributed and used by others to update their set of files to the new version. WinPatch (and the WinPatch Wizard) is fast, easy to use, and powerful. WinPatch 1.3 is a 32-bit Windows application that can be used on either Windows 95, Windows NT, Windows 2000, Windows XP, and Windows 3003 Server. Several other patch tools are comparable to WinPatch, but they are expensive, slow, and do not offer a complete Windows-based set of tools. WinPatch is a $50 shareware program that provides functionality comparable to its competitors that cost $800 and up. You can use the main WinPatch program to both build and apply patch files. The build process analyzes the two file systems to decide which files have been modified, discarded, added, and removed between the two file systems. It then creates a patch file containing the changes needed to convert the old set of files to the new set of files. Optionally, you can create a self-extracting patch file that applies the patch to the user's file system when it's executed. The second step to this process is applying the patch file to an old file system, such as an existing one on a customer's PC. You provide the end user with the WinPatch Apply program and the patch file. The WinPatch Apply program is a very easy application for your customers to use and apply the patch files that you provide to them. You can distribute patch files and the WinPatch Apply program on a floppy disk, the Internet, or an electronic bulletin board system. Extensive error checking is performed both when the patch file is created and when it is applied on the customer's PC, ensuring the integrity of the updated file system. The WinPatch Apply program can also create backup copies of the files affected by the patch so the customer can reconstruct the original file system if needed. WinPatch 1.3 includes the WinPatch main program, which can both build and apply patch files. WinPatch also includes the WinPatch Apply program, which may be distributed to as many customers as you want. Price: $50. To download the shareware version of WinPatch 1.3 (1,345k), click here. |
